A photography exhibition featuring impressive photos of exploration expeditions carried out by the Thessaloniki Speleology Association Proteus was last week on display not in a typical art gallery but in a WWII bomb shelter. The bomb shelter, a large man-made cave in which local residents sought refuge during the war, was recently reopened at the initiative of Proteus.

To enter the candlelit cave, which is located exactly beneath Pavlou Mela Square in Thessaloniki, visitors to the exhibition had to wear special helmets fitted with lights.
