Recycling out of the Frying Pan Posted: 16 Mar 2011 03:54 AM PDT Although cooking oil can be a major polluting factor (as one litre of oil can pollute one million litres of water), recycling it is not such an easy task, as transporting it to recycling points can be proven quite difficult. Two childhood friends from Patras, Fotis Grammenos and Andreas Klaoudatos, decided to go the distance for everybody and created Collectoil. The small recycling business collects used cooking oil from restaurants, fast-food chains and other fat-frying enthusiasts in their home city and then sells it to Elinoil company in Volos to be converted into biodiesel, to be used in vehicles and as heating oil. ![]() |
